But there is no sign of city residents getting succor. Instead, the corporators are raking in moolah causing trouble for the people as well as for their respective parties. Particularly, the TRS corporators have attained notoriety for this and the party MLAs and MPs are worried over their future following the activities of the corporators.
The corporators belonging to ruling party are allegedly going to any extent for bribes, contracts and for collecting protection money. Either the corporators or their kith and kin are acting as agents to see that building permissions are granted against the prescribed rules, facilitating illegal constructions and collecting cuts from the builders and owners of plots and buildings who sell or purchase plots and take up construction.

On the other hand, B N Reddy Nagar Corporator M Lakshmi Prasanna’s son Mahesh Goud is facing accusations of attacking toll gate staff and refusing to pay toll fee. Chaitanyapuri corporator Jinnaram Vittal Reddy has been booked for threatening a house owner demanding bribe for not creating any hurdle in the construction of house.Going a step ahead, Kacheguda corporator Akkalla Chaitanya Kanna’s husband Kanna Yadav not only took up illegal construction but also assaulted GHMC section officer Vani when the latter raised objection and asked him to stop illegal construction. The GHMC official filed a case against the corporator’s husband.
In Musheerabad, one corporator was booked for demanding a residential flat from a builder, while another corporator in Chandanagar is facing allegations of operating illegal paid parking lots and yet another corporator in Serilingampally is accused of demanding money from the relatives of a Member of Parliament.
There seems to be no end for such instances, but not all of them are coming to light. Yet, people have started feeling agitated with the criminal attitude of several corporators and strongly feel antagonism for TRS.
